The Truth About Bed Bugs

Bed bugs don’t just live in New York City these days. They’re everywhere! Travelers and vacationers all across the country live in fear that their hotel might be hit with an infestation. A few bed bugs picked up on the go might translate to a ruined mattress and disrupted life.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF PAJAMAS

It's a nighttime tradition for many Americans to don their pajamas or PJs before heading to bed. Whether you're living in the Midwest during the winter and prefer wool PJs with the built-in footies or in sunny Southern California and wear short-sleeve PJs before going to bed, everyone has at least one pair. But, where did this tradition come from? Why do people wear pajamas? And why do they have such a funny name?

MEMORY FOAM ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES

In the early 1970's, NASA's research center funded the development of a material used to reduce g-force on the body during space shuttle lift-off. It was thought that one of the main factors in reducing this intense pressure would be to create a foam material that would conform and hold to the shape of the body. It was quickly found that any movement would make the foam lose conformity and create unhealthy pressure on pressure points in the body. Realizing that this could potentially become a health concern for astronauts, NASA created a new, visco-elastic material that catered to these concerns. The visco-elastic innovation allowed for conformity as well as improved resilience when pressure was removed from the foam, allowing for even weight distribution over the entire surface. It was later found that this technology could prove useful outside of space travel.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT MATTRESS

If you feel a little uncomfortable about shopping for a new mattress, you're not alone. Most people only shop for a mattress once every decade - if that - so it's understandable if you're not completely sure what style or size of mattress you should be looking to purchase. That's why Sit 'n Sleep has compiled this list of a few of the important things you should consider to find a mattress that delivers the comforting and rejuvenating sleep you deserve.
